Hi there, do I understand correctly that, if I use CockroachDB as datastore and set the min db pool size to 10 ,max to 100, datastore-connect-rate default (100ms). When a new spicedb pod is created (eg when moving pod to another node), spicedb will open 10 connection (min) then becomes ready to accept request, and if there are a lot of request to the new pod, the request could be slow because it could be blocked at db connection establishment phase because we only allow connection at 10 conn per second?

yes, i believe that's the case.

Any reason the connect-rate is by default set to IMO high value of 100ms that allows only 10 connections per second? if I lower the value, is there any undesirable consequences?

in operating SpiceDB against CRDB, we've seen CRDB nodes behave badly when they get ~hundreds of parallel connection requests. 100ms is what we landed on for a sane default that seems to work well for most of our use cases. it's definitely a value that you can modify and evaluate.
i don't know off the top of my head what those issues were - this particular code predates me joining
