Hi everyone. Im currently doing product

Hi everyone. Im currently doing product investigation for Zanzibar systems. Currently have both a Spicedb and a playground running via docker locally, but I cant find how to configure the playground to connect to my local Spicedb instance. Is this possible?
y
no - the playground runs an in-browser WASM version of SpiceDB. its current form is intended to be a learning environment rather than a GUI for SpiceDB. what were you hoping to get out of hooking the playground up to a SpiceDB instance? I wanna get a sense of whether there's a gap in our dev tooling.
e
Just to use it as a way for our developers to understand how the product works without having to go into CLI right away
The playground doesnt tell us how the schema looks like on database level
Also its partly because I made the same setup with openfga therefor I was wondering if I could reach the same setup. Its totally fine to just include the cli instead since we want to learn how that works anyway
y
what do you mean by that?
> Its totally fine to just include the cli instead there is a zed CLI in the playground. is that what you're referring to?
e
No a docker image in order to talk with a local instance of spicedb
I was interested to know how a change in schema or creating tuples looks like in postgres
y
just out of curiosity or?
e
Yeah
y
gotcha, makes sense
e
Just for learning purpose
y
i was gonna say that ideally that's not something that you have to be aware of
and that modifying rows in the underlying datastore can have unintended effects because of the manual MVCC work that SpiceDB does to allow you to read the state of the datastore at a particular revision
but curiosity makes sense
e
I get it but not knowing how the database works is unacceptable if we want to seriously consider oss
y
kk
lmk if you have any questions as y'all are evaluating
e
Thanks, only annoying part is discord is blocked on our network so I have to use my phone to ask support here
y
oh that's obnoxious -_-
