I don't know that it's a special release date so much as a date to say "let's give this period of time for people to bless it and come up with any potential issues".

Something like, "if nothing major comes up by this date, then this turns into the production release".

Things are pretty stable regarding functions, AFAIK.

But we're giving ourselves leeway to make breaking changes before that date, just in case.
