REading the guides (i.e., https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/N2XTqKPFEkKCFJ6kRnzl0/), it seems that in order to publish, I need to have a
dendron.yml
. I believe having it inside the "vault" would make it easier to share. It sees to me that I might need to convert the shared vault to a self-contained vault, but I'm not 100% sure, plus I broke my settings before.
j
Hey, did you Run
Dendron: Migrate to Self Contained Vault
to migrate or did it manually using this guide: https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/aikv0yamnfkcowlol7qeldy ?
c
Hi, I used
Dendron: Migrate to Self Contained Vault
. Will be trying again. I still do not understand the difference between a self contained and not self contained. I also understand that self-contained vaults can be remote vaults, can't they?
not sure how does that relate to the workspace
j
Looks like this command is broken, and schema files are not copied to the newly created
/notes
folder. Was this the issue you faced? If so, can you create a bug report for this command?
c
Will try again. I'm not sure if that's the command or I suspect I have a weird setup, where I have a vs code workspace as a git repo with other remote vaults (each of them being independent git repos)
j
Self contained vaults are self sufficient for sharing/publishing etc. In simple words, they have their own dendron.yml. More info here: https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/o4i7a81j778jyh7wql0nacb#summary
c
workspace sync works fine, but still... not sure if I'm doing it right
Thanks for the info re self contained vaults. Is it possible adding a self-contained vault with its own dendron.yml file as a remote vault to a workspace which also has a dendron.yml?
(because that's what I was intending to do)
j
You mean adding a remote vault which is self contained?
c
yes
j
I guess this shouldn't make any difference. Let me see
Yep, this is a self contained vault: https://github.com/Harshita-mindfire/test-vault and can be added to any workspace.
c
Thanks!
