procrastination is either implicit or explicit process you are following to avoid creating your slip box. are you more bounded by time or method?

    i guess by method. 🤔

so method could be based principles, or could be via social practice, or perhaps you find a classification of methods you are interested in

social practice: did your procrastination change with technology? do you fall back on habits the way your best parental or peer or sibling procrastinated?

principles: do you need to be in motion? occupied mind? fully brain washed?

methods: exploring new knowledge, refactoring to improve, visualizing context, sharing to test your ability to teach, etc

the 💡NSIGHT to me is just follow your interests: learning what you care about the time will fly and you will create new connections; studying what someone wants you to regurgitate for some test is work: sometimes they even send it home with you homework

looking up spelling > flow via Csikszentmihalyi is very much not work but instead the fine balance around appropriately challenging tasks. > creativeflow instead of workflow?

@bitNomad thanks for all your input. You gave me already some ideas on how to continue. 🙂

What’s a good workflow to capture screenshots or photos on the phone and then annotate it for search/recall and then publishing? For example, a user took one photo a day and want to share 365 photos at the end of the year and some related annotations to recall what happened.

I have a question around how people use dendron. Do they use it for thinking ‘out loud’ ? This is often done using an outlining tool such as roam? The dendron preview doesn’t have the ability to fold like the actual markdown editor window. does that cause a problem? Does that mean that dendron is not really for this kind of use case?

I wouldn't call it "thinking out loud" but I do use Dendron a lot for drafting mostly based on outlining via headings. When I do this I want as little distraction as possible and don't look at the preview anyway. So no folding is not an issue for me.

whatever you need to get your neurons firing whether that is loud cacophony of thought or air traffic controller ear covered silence. The medium implicitly or explicitly as you are making aware, impacts your use both through your practice and the different mechanics that achieve your outcomes. I have long used gVim for markdown are your thoughts in this case a sprawl that could not have made a notebook or perhaps too much pretty and not enough principle?

or would your thoughts out loud be translated into long term memory if you started with markdown folding than refined them into smaller dendronites?

key point: + context (& the capability within said context), + practice (social or deliberate) + meaning (needs/goals/drivers) triangulate the effectiveness of this habit/ritual/understanding And the question asked, I started using dendron as a Zettelkasten; while I very much am aided from a 2nd brain, I also am very much "out there" and use this as a tool for understanding others mental models and the validation of my ability to create shared understanding (i.e. is that a topic classified as I know, or again what I do not know)

1000% more valuable as we find our work distributed having a digital deck that tracks the flow, interest, drop off, and repeats is great for need finding and plugging holes in wrecked-angle communication. Or for today, just avoiding a toxic relative

I was really hoping this had more gems from Einstein as I use my (frequent in)ability to communicate concepts to classify my knowledge between what I don't know L07 and what I do L07 L3$$ https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/8742/did-einstein-say-if-you-cant-explain-it-simply-you-dont-understand-it-well-en#22409

note to self (if I could link this thread back to my dm or server), signal is not the opposite of noise; the opposite instead travels a spectrum of data - knowledge - wisdom. The signal is a carrier or notification

if you are using writing practice to refine any of the aforementioned skills, if it is not shared until refined do you still consider it out loud (if alone and not collective)?

this might sound silly, but i found a workflow that is working out nice enough for me now. to fix a problem that REALLY annoyed me. which was doing the command + backtick (in macos) to cycle through vscode windows. i always have at least two vscode opens: - dendron / my notes - my code editor but cycling between these was really annoying to me, instead of having a hotkey to target when i want to go to dendron and when i want to go to the code editor... i have a hotkey app that i have keybindings for to navigate to different applications on my mac. so i actually downloaded a new one: - vscodium now i can quickly context switch to essentially everything i need with granularity!

@d1onys1us when I have two vscode windows open, I use the hot keys Alt+Tab. It works in Windows and Ubuntu.

I am currently using Dendron to organize my note for better search. Workflow like this: 1. Capture on phone. 2. Organize in Dendron using PARA categories 3. Distill notes whenever my search hit the note so the next time I can understand it faster. It's a PKM, Personal Knowledge Management. Someday I will use Dendron as a productivity system to systematize task management; something like this:

Yes but this does a cycle right so if I am in another application and want to jump to a specific window I might need to press alt tab again after.

I've been using Dendron to organize my work meeting notes. All of my meeting live on my google calendar. Each day I run a script(code below) that fetches the events on my google calendar. For each event, the script creates a meeting note template that I can fill out during the meeting. In addition, the script creates one daily journal note that contains a link to each of the meeting notes. Feel free to use/modify the code. https://github.com/jbamford/google-calander-dendron

I use voice control for accessibility. Unfortunately it means I some times get noise inserted into my notes. Is there anyway I can set notes to read only to prevent this - this would mean I need to explicitly do something to edit a note

@Paul_J maybe a push to talk shortcut instead of the recorder listening all the time? Or use a mic with an external on / off button .
