We're still at the hackathon, a few more hours going if anyone in the US wants to join us at some point. I'll post here when we're shutting down

And we're calling it a day, as our eyes are starting to go a bit πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« It’s been a great two days. Thanks everyone who popped by, hacked away, shared songs on the playlist, made awesome contributions, and helped others along the way - collaboration for the win! #H5YR

I could really use some help with my Hangfire package, who's good at OpenId? πŸ˜… https://cultiv.social/@sebastiaan/113317362376808154

A couple of different hacktoberfest projects from my hand: https://github.com/skttl/ptrun-caniuse and https://github.com/skttl/ptrun-tailwindcss. Would love to do an Umbraco one, but the documentation site search seems quite hard to reverse engineer πŸ™‚

Thanks! But no.. 😦 So that's almost exactly what I'm doing, but since UmbracoId doesn't think
    /umbraco/hangfire
counts as a URL that it authenticates, the authorization for that one is just "null".

@Sebastiaan registered hangifre on a different path that is not /umbraco prefix so just /hangfire or /seb

Hey can anyone help me understand the rules around new Umbraco packages - https://github.com/umbraco/HacktoberfestActivityLog?tab=readme-ov-file#new-umbraco-packages
    Copy code
Packages for Umbraco 14 and 15, are eligible by default, even if the equivalent package already exists for an earlier Umbraco version.
Does that mean updating an existing package to work with v15 counts? πŸ™‚

Hey James - as I understand it, it's about taking packages from v13, and the legacy Back Office to work with 14/15 and the new Back Office. Common courtesy if you're migrating an open source project is to contact the maintainer too - just to make sure you're not stepping on any toes please πŸ™‚

Hello πŸ™‚ If we are fixing an issue specific to older versions such as v13, which branch do we clone and raise a PR against ?

Hi @Nathaniel Nunes, you need the v13/contrib branch. https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS/tree/v13/contrib

Knowing nothing about anything would a temporary upgrade package work? Something that you can install in your v14 and v15 that contains a mock / skeleton of this and then on first run after models builder runs it deletes itself.

I think you're problem is compile time, (e.g the namespaces are not there,) so if you have something tempory in v14 you have to make sure that isn't there at all when you move to v15. you could potentially do this with targeting the .net version (e.g have a package that compiles a .net 8 and .net 9 dll, with the .net 8 dll haveing the fallback stuff in it. the remove the models and build is a 'better' solution, but persronally i don't think that should be the solution it should build no modification and migrate for you on startup.

so the interface should stay there as marker with obsolete, but I wouldn't register it in di and regen models after db upgrade so on next run models are as expected.

I helped @AaronSadlerUK with Umbnav for Hacktober but I don't think it was merged until November. Does that still count? Also my first solution was in a codepen rather than git, does that still count?
