Signal 9 is often an out of memory error

Have you run these files on a tutorial of dsmc? Do these settings work there?

If the mesh is quite large it will run out of memory

It's telling you that the process was terminated with a signal 9 error. That usually means out of memory

Not that your setup is necessarily wrong

this case is from my teacher, his file is not dsmcFoam but iam changing his file into dsmcFoam form to stimulate airfoil with high Ma and Kn

Rand paul has an interesting point. Try a smaller mesh, monitor RAM use when the command runs, for both mesh sizes, Also see if you can run dsmcFoam on a tutorial case. With its default files, and then with your own files.

I mean a mesh with less cells, not smaller as in physical size of the domain

did you check the p, T, U files in the time step directories? Do they have non-zero data?

after you run the sim it will generate a file dir for each time step you set in the controlDict

I've set up a simulation using foamRun/fluid but it seems like it's completely ignoring gravity.

Not sure with the new solver structure but for some it used to be that they checked if there was a gravitiy entry in the right dictionary and then this term was activated. Id search the tutorial files for dictoranies with an entry called g

all I could find was a page on "solver modules" https://doc.cfd.direct/openfoam/user-guide-v12/solvers-modules
