You can't have CNAME for the root domain – just A Records

Any provider allowing you to do this essentially allows for no RFC-conform configuration errors which result in wonky behavior. All other DNS properties incl. subdomains are fine to have either CNAME or A Record.

If you are a vendor (ideally a firm, but we're open to individuals), we'd love to hear from you. Lighthouse Writers Workshop is looking for a person or firm with expertise in upgrading and maintaining Drupal websites with experience in business systems integration (specifically Quickbooks) and industry-standard APIs to execute a major website upgrade in 2023. Lighthouse’s Website is our main CRM and workshop management system. It processes most of our registrations, and nearly 100% of our revenue runs through it. Our desired partner would migrate our site from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9 and, in that process, build API-based integrations with our other systems (including Quickbooks) to address key inefficiencies in our operations. We hope to test concurrent to building and have the migrated site ready to launch in October 2023. Our partner would stay on board for the launch and manage any issues that might come up, as well as build operating procedures and train staff. Afterward, we’d like to keep our partner on a retainer basis to lead us in maintenance and upgrades, as well as handle emergencies.
