Makes me wonder if elitism is consistent with agorism.

I suppose so. Even in Athens, not everyone could vote.

(re : Right, Twitter level data access...) Yeah the files just show govt submitting requests via abuse pathways mostly, and internal team trying to figure out what to do. The only revelation personally was that such a large platform wasn't doing some sketchy shit with the state. The only concrete actions by an actual state to influence Twitter was from the Trump admin & was conveniently left out so Elon could spin his narrative while catering to autocrats and corporate interests.

What, you don’t think two dozen twitter threads is a good medium to articulate such a critical issue?

(re @User : From the actual leak we know this isn’t true, ...) and if is not with PRISM, is with fear, coercion, imposition, oppression that they will have access to what they want. In 2016 I was working in customer support for a crypto company, and one good day I received an email directly from FBI looking for infos about one of our customer. They do this knowing perfectly that without the order of a judge we would not have given any information. Was not a good feeling

Standard tactic or police, lawyers, even hackers. Often times people will just give you what you want if you ask them for it.

Would be good to have deterministic builds with javac for starters

I'm pretty sure class files are already deterministic and for jar files you just enable reproducible order and disable "last modified" dates

I think deterministic means provably and always getting the same outputs. From what I can tell that means using things like LinkedHashMap to feed in the inputs in the same order to reduce variability in outputs from the compiler. See here for discussion: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/14984984/is-the-creation-of-java-class-files-deterministic#14985784

(re : I think deterministic means prov...) Yeah you always get the same output if you use the same version of javac. If you use a newer version then naturally if nothing else, the class version will be higher so it won't be the same

According to that post, if you don't use linked inputs for some methods, you can get different byte code out of the compiler, even if it does the same thing. For most things it probably doesn't matter, but probably crucial for anything in crypto.
  • a

    Aberg (Satergo dev)

    05/28/2023, 5:52 PM
(re : According to that post, if you d...) I think you have misunderstood it. I have developed a Java bytecode targeting compiler and the bytecode doesn't care what kind of collection you use. I think what you mean is that when writing a compiler you need to use deterministic collections to have a fixed order of elements (like file propoerties?)

Beyond my technical depth, really. I just looked into it because I was trying to understand kushti's comment and thought I did.
