Can someone help with Might checks. Do you also use might dice? or only for combat checks? So checks are ONLY white dice and NO empower? These seem next to impossible

Also - in Chapter 3 ||if u sacrafice a guy, do you lose that class for the ENTIRE cmpaign? (not on hardcore)||

Yes, most checks are just white dice

If you aren't playing hardcore then no, you wouldn't lose the class permanently

You don’t get your might cube dice though (unless single round of combat)

You can use empower during the rounds of combat, yes. Re-rolls are valid to use as well. Other than Rounds of Combat or Might checks you'll use purely white dice and can't modify those (e.g. Spot or Intimidate checks)

Are you excluding rerolls/redraws from your definition of "modify?" It looks like you can reroll/redraw Spot, Intimidate, etc. with the tokens (but not Empower) unless I'm really misreading something

We chose as a party to allow this. There were some moments when we really wanted something so we used tolkens to get it, but felt we were still accurately sacrificing something to get it and not just taking it for free.

definitely, like some of the events are actual fights. You're still using resources, and some events have really high failure potential, even with multiple draws/roles.

Just wondered if I have played something wrong. When the deck runs out of Stage 1 cards, do you then move to stage 2? Some special boards ||have direct explanation when not to change stage number|| which have me played like the above in other encounters.

Normally, if you run out of Stage 1 cards you do automatically transition to Stage 2. However, there are several chapters that have very specific rules that govern when you change decks that you are drawing from.

I now realise why I took for granted that you can empower in story encounters

There are yellow cards right next to the description in the example … guess it’s the same blob for encounter and story rules …

That’s pretty clear though …

Our party got to chapter 9 before we realized we were doing this wrong too. And if you play correctly it feels more like an actual chance of failure rather then a guaranteed chance of success.
