Came here to say this as well! I was mostly lurking here and perhaps not the most regular user, but really enjoyed my time with Dendron - the app and the community... more power to the team going forward.

I was liking Dendron, I had used it a long time ago and I used it again, I remembered why I liked it so much at the time. Was using Dokuwki but dissatisfied with the editor, wanted something faster for editing and new notes. I was about to switch to Dendron and unfortunately I saw Kevin's announcement.

Congratulations to Kevin for this great creation, I wish you success in future endeavors and who knows, maybe create a Dendron replacement in the future that is commercially sustainable, a modern Org Mode without dependence on Emacs and online would be great 🙂

Dendron has been my sole note taking tool for the past 2 years and I am sad to hear the news. Best of luck to @kevins8 and the rest of the Dendon team and thank you for all your hard work in providing developers a better note-taking tool than OneNote ❤️

I hope they continue this area of knowledge base with a new, more commercially viable Dendron. For now I'm still using Dendron for some Markdown. Curious to know Kevin and team's future projects.

I am still going to be using Dendron for the time being. I will probably transition to using a similar tool in the future, but at least I've got the flexibility to decide later - Dendron has basically no bugs or deficiencies at the moment so for me it's ok. Real shame that it's gone into maintenance mode, but maybe some other talented people will fork it in the future.

I know I haven't been as vocal on here as I've been in the past but never stopped using Dendron and don't plan to stop now. Thank you for all your hard work.

Been using dendron for about a year now and can't see myself changing to anything else at this point even if development has stopped. Thanks everyone for all your hard work!

Likewise sticking with Dendron for the time being. The alternatives are just poor fits.

I'm in the same boat. Love Dendron and will keep using it. Have loved using Dendron since I started using it back in 2021. It has helped address so many problems I've had with managing information, finding information, segmenting work from personal, etc. Special thanks to the whole team behind it. I enjoyed working with the team when I was helping out as an evangelist, too. And I still want Dendron vaults to be the format I create DocsGarden vaults for (I could always later investigate conversion tooling for dendron2logseq, etc. for example). Multi-vault is still such a huge thing for me, and Dendron just does it so well. I can have a novel as a vault over here that has automation turn it into an ebook and print-pdf, runs other specialized tools, etc. while having my personal and work vaults exist with completely different source locations and accessed on completely different devices. While also having a site published internally at work of my work documentation. So many benefits. I wish I had more spare time because I'd honestly just use it to work on more tooling, and DocsGarden. If people are interested in what I'm doing with my DocsGarden project, I have some barebones info over here (no usable repo vaults just yet): https://github.com/docsgarden Haven't had time just yet, but also haven't been able to gauge interest.

I think the dendron concept should be ported to other note-taking apps such as Obsidian. Loved the concept from a structural POV but never could settle with it being a plugin for a desktop only app by Microsoft

I also really prefer Dendron's patterns & concepts to those in other apps. I've only looked a little bit at Obsidian, but I have found a couple promising plug-ins to make it feel more like Dendron. The first is [Structured Plugin](https://github.com/dobrovolsky/obsidian-structure), which lets you use
    .
hierarchies and the second is [Breadcrumbs](https://github.com/SkepticMystic/breadcrumbs), which just helps me see the hierarchy more easily. Hopefully more people will make many other tools compatible with Dendron's approach!

I'm not on Linux, but I think I've seen "Unexpected token" errors before on Mac when I have a JSON file that does not have the necessary commas between settings. Is that maybe what is happening here?

You run VSCode on Linux but get a Windows error message?
